History has shown that the club’s most impactful and successful signings often happen later in the window.

Photo by PETER POWELL/POOL/AFP via Getty ImagesLeeds United’s previous late signings have all paid off

There’s a familiar feeling of unease among the Leeds faithful as the transfer window progresses with a notable lack of new faces.

Yet, history offers a comforting perspective. Remember the panic in October 2020 before the deadline? That’s when Leeds secured Raphinha, a player who would go on to captivate Elland Road with his electrifying performances and become a global superstar. His arrival, like so many others, happened when the window was nearing its close.

More recently, consider the frantic final days of last summer. The signings of Joel Piroe and Ao Tanaka felt like last-minute deals to appease a frustrated fanbase. And look at them now.

Contribution

Statistic

Appearances

67

Goals

17

Assists

12

Minutes

5,364′

Raphinha’s all time Leeds United stats, via transfermarkt.

Piroe’s goalscoring prowess and Tanaka’s midfield dominance have made them integral to the team, and it’s hard to imagine the squad without their presence.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

The quiet before the storm is a characteristic of Leeds’ transfer business. The club has a history of making shrewd, impactful signings in the final days of the window.

So, while the silence is deafening, there’s no need to panic just yet. Trust the process and remember the game-changing players who arrived when all seemed lost.

Photo by Ben Roberts Photo/Getty ImagesLeeds United are still working on securing more signings

Italy’s football media have strongly linked Nikola Krstovic with a move to Elland Road while sources on this side of the channel have always denied that Leeds wanted the Lecce striker.

Corriere Dello Sport say (7 August, page 5) that Leeds are ‘close’ to agreeing a deal to sign Inter Milan’s 33-year-old Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi.

Taremi has only been at Inter for a year and was largely a fringe player but his stats at Porto make for great reading – 92 goals and 56 assists in 182 games.

With Inter signing Ademola Lookman and reshuffling their final-third options, Taremi has been made available and Leeds have responded.

Another notable prospect is Rodrigo Muniz, the top striker target for Leeds United this summer. The Whites have already seen a bid rejected for the Brazilian striker this summer, as Fulham appear to be holding out to sign a new striker of their own before cashing in.

An emerging report from TeamTalk has now revealed that Muniz remains Leeds’ ‘undisputed top target’ for the attacking department. But that ‘difficulties over a deal’ has forced Farke to turn his attention to other potential targets.

In conclusion, the club are not deliberately holding back news. Silence from Elland Road simply means the work is happening behind the scenes. Transfer business is complex, with countless variables.

The club will announce signings when a deal is complete, not before. Trust that the club are actively pursuing their targets and will share the news when there’s something official to report.

In the frantic world of football transfers, a quiet spell can often feel like a cause for alarm,…

[8814
12409,748,1385,393,4884,12413,1860,79747,4117,78356,16,15
0":"post-325891","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-ao-tanaka","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-daniel-farke","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-joel-piroe","14":"tag-leeds","15":"tag-nikola-krstovic","16":"tag-raphinha","17":"tag-rodrigo-muniz","18":"tag-uk","19":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
