Lando Norris has deemed the earlier part of his season as \u201cnot good enough\u201d, with the Briton believing that, prior to the last couple of months, his performance was \u201cpretty average\u201d.<\/p>\n
Norris<\/a>\u2019 campaign initially looked to have started strongly when 2025 kicked off at the Australian Grand Prix in March, having won what turned out to be a chaotic wet-dry encounter<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, while McLaren<\/a> team mate Oscar Piastri<\/a> claimed four victories across the next six rounds, Norris had to wait until Round 8 in Monaco<\/a> to stand on the top step again.<\/p>\n A difficult moment for the team followed two races later in Canada when a late-race collision<\/a> between Norris and Piastri \u2013 for which Norris took the blame<\/a> \u2013 put the former out of the running while the latter managed to make it home in fourth.<\/p>\n But since Round 11 in Austria<\/a>, the 25-year-old has bolstered his points tally by scoring three wins, with the most recent of these in Hungary<\/a> seeing him cut Piastri\u2019s championship lead<\/a> down to just eight points.<\/p>\n When asked ahead of the race in Budapest to assess his season and give an insight into what his area of focus will be during the next few weeks, Norris explained: \u201cJust what I\u2019ve been doing really over the last month, two months.<\/p>\n \u201cPrior to that, [it was] not good enough, so in a harsh way, I would say I was pretty average before then. Since then, I think things have been a lot stronger.<\/p>\n \u201cI still want more, still need to be a lot better and I\u2019m not as good as where I would like to be, but a lot of improvements have been made.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I\u2019m in a much better place, I\u2019m happier with the car \u2013 things like that. I\u2019ve been working hard but I can do a lot more than I have been doing, so, for that reason, just more of the progress that I have been making.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier in the season, Norris spoke of how he had been spending time off social media, a move that he felt had allowed him to \u201cdo things that are productive\u201d.<\/p>\n With this in mind, the nine-time race winner was quizzed on how different his 2025 summer break might look in comparison to previous years.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not going to be that different,\u201d he reflected. \u201cI\u2019m still on social media every now and then, I\u2019m still going to go and have a good time with my friends in different places, and we\u2019re going to have a little golf trip and do different things.<\/p>\n \u201cSo really, it\u2019s not any different to what I\u2019ve done the last few years, which is a good thing. It shouldn\u2019t be any different.
