Everton insiders have been left bemused by claims they have had a bid for John McGinn rejected by Aston Villa. Sky Sports News<\/a> reported on Thursday in what was billed as \u2018breaking news\u2019 that Villa had rejected an \u00a318million offer from Everton<\/a> for John McGinn with the West Midlands outfit declaring that the player is not for sale.<\/p>\n It was claimed David Moyes<\/a> views his fellow Scot as a priority target with his leadership qualities and versatility, but Villa want to keep their captain, despite him also being high on Newcastle United\u2019s shortlist.<\/p>\n However, the ECHO understands that while Everton did retain an interest in McGinn earlier this summer and there were enquiries last month, no bid was submitted by Hill Dickinson Stadium top brass and decided to make a move for a \u2018younger version\u2019 of the player by sealing a deal this week for Chelsea\u2019s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall instead with the belief from inside Finch Farm that the Blues\u2019 name could be being used to try and flush out interest from the Magpies instead.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Everton look to end supporters’ ‘frustration’ with new feature at Hill Dickinson Stadium<\/a>READ MORE: Everton handed honest Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall verdict after Chelsea transfer – ‘Most impressive thing’<\/a><\/p>\n Moyes met up with Dewsbury-Hall following his signing for Everton and said of his latest acquisition: \u201cWe are pleased that Kiernan has chosen to join Everton. He had other clubs interested in signing him but he was excited by the opportunity and the challenge at Everton.<\/p>\n
