Williams may have gone into the summer break in fifth place in the constructors\u2019 championship, but Alexander Albon<\/a> expects the team will face strong competition to keep it over the rest of the season. <\/p>\n

The Grove team are enjoying their strongest season for several years in 2025, scoring 70 points over the first 14 rounds of the championship.<\/p>\n

However, Williams failed to score any points at the Hungaroring, with Albon finishing behind team mate Carlos Sainz Jnr<\/a> in 14th and 15th places. All three of Williams\u2019 closest rivals in the championship \u2013 Aston Martin, Sauber and Racing Bulls \u2013 each scored multiple points.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very tough weekend,\u201d Albon admitted<\/a>. \u201cI came into the weekend optimistic and I feel we\u2019re a little bit exposed around this track and the car didn\u2019t really suit it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe struggled in the race more than I thought we would. We need to do our homework because I know we would do a better job if we had another go at it. It\u2019s going to be a dogfight for the rest of the year and it\u2019s not going to be easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Albon feels that Williams\u2019 car, as it often has in recent years, will be stronger at the higher speed circuits like Monza or Losail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we favour the lower downforce circuits and others probably favour the higher downforce ones,\u201d he explained. \u201cSo we\u2019ll see how it plays out. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m going to fight like hell to keep fifth in the championship for us and I\u2019m sure Carlos feels the same. It\u2019s going to be a fight to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Team principal James Vowles conceded that Williams have to work on becoming more consistent in their performance level across different circuits on the calendar.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to make sure that we learn and understand why we can be strong on one circuit and poor in others,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a pattern that\u2019s been consistent over years, but we need to break out of it in order for us to be able to move up the grid. I\u2019m really proud of what the team has achieved in the first half of the season. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great to be in fifth in the championship. However, we have to recognise it will be a close fought battle to the end of the year and we have to maximise every opportunity that comes towards us.\u201d<\/p>\n
