Sharon Osbourne has revealed that Ozzy<\/a> told her he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love at the Black Sabbath<\/a> farewell show.<\/p>\n

The Prince of Darkness headlined the all-star \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019 show<\/a> at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, in a performance that gained added poignancy when the singer passed away less than three weeks later (July 22)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was the first time that the full classic lineup of Sabbath \u2013 Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi<\/a>, bassist Geezer Butler<\/a> and drummer Bill Ward \u2013 had played together since 2005. They played a streamlined four-song set of their classic songs<\/a>, with Ozzy telling the live crowd: \u201cIt\u2019s the last song ever. Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just days before he died, his wife Sharon revealed that Ozzy shared with her how much the event meant to him. \u201cHe turned around and he said to me that night, \u2018I had no idea that so many people liked me\u2019. Ozzy\u2019s always been in his own bubble.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor Ozzy to play with Bill [Ward] again, he was very, very emotional about that,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Pollstar<\/a>, Sharon added: \u201cIt was a huge success, because it was a phenomenal event. It was the first time, I think, that anybody\u2019s gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity. So it\u2019s the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it\u2019s the perfect way, when you\u2019ve had such a long career, to end it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The enormous line-up for \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019 boasted names like\u00a0Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a>, KoRn<\/a>, Tool<\/a>,\u00a0Slayer<\/a>,\u00a0Pantera<\/a>,\u00a0Metallica<\/a>,\u00a0Alice In Chains<\/a>, Gojira<\/a>, Anthrax<\/a> and\u00a0Aerosmith\u2019s Steven Tyler<\/a>. It went on to become the highest-grossing charity concert of all time,\u00a0bringing in a huge sum for local Birmingham charities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has now been announced that a documentary about Osbourne is also on the way<\/a>, which will share an \u201cintimate glimpse\u201d of his \u201clast chapter\u201d. Titled Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, it will feature contributions from his family and was filmed across his final three years. It will air on BBC One and iPlayer on August 18.<\/p>\n

A biopic of Ozzy and Sharon\u2019s lives is also in the works at Sony Pictures<\/a>, with negotiations with a director ongoing. The project was first announced in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n
