Meanwhile, Germany \u2014 whose L\u00e4nder, or states, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/161927\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opposed the EU law from the start<\/a> over encroachment on regional powers \u2014 is now navigating a lengthy and complex legislative update.<\/p>\n<p>Bruttin called on the Commission to keep up the pressure on reluctant countries and open infringement procedures against the most \u201crecalcitrant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McGrath stressed that the \u201cdeadline gave member states the time needed to put national legislation in place and ensure compliance with these important provisions.
