A Birmingham sports bar welcomed the return of the football season with a significant investment.<\/p>\n

The decision, estimated to be in the tens of thousands, was described by the landlord as a ‘big outlay’.<\/p>\n

Located on Allison Street in Digbeth<\/a>, Hennessey’s Bar was previously voted the best boozer in the city<\/a> by BirminghamLive readers.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Birmingham<\/a> City’s game against Ipswich tonight, Hennessey\u2019s installed a 6-metre screen in the beer garden.<\/p>\n

The new installation comes at a cost – but Hennessey\u2019s owner Gary McDonnell said ‘you need to keep’ offering patrons quality.<\/p>\n

He said: “It is a big outlay, especially at the moment, but to attract customers, you need to keep on offering them quality.<\/p>\n

“People are still going out – but might be choosing where to spend their money more wisely.<\/p>\n

“So matching the offering to what people want is what we are always trying to do, and investments like this will hopefully pay off.”<\/p>\n

Gary added: “Having the big screen in the garden is almost what he have become synonymous with.<\/p>\n
