Wherever my wife Dee and I are together. We split our time between homes so we can be close to our seven kids, but Palm Beach is our base.<\/p>\n
When did you first visit London?<\/p>\n
In 1970, for an extended stay to learn more about the fashion business. I worked on the King\u2019s Road at Jean Machine, right on the sales floor, learning everything I could about different fits and styles. That\u2019s where I became obsessed with Made in Heaven jeans \u2014 bell bottoms, high-waisted, beautifully faded with distinctive stitching. I brought them back and sold them at Barneys in New York. It was a full denim lifestyle \u2014 jackets, dresses, vests \u2014 a whole collection. That era on the King\u2019s Road was iconic.<\/p>\n

I usually stay at Claridge\u2019s \u2014 timeless British charm at its finest. The rooms are spacious, the location is incredibly convenient, and the high tea is, in my opinion, the best in London. Staying there has become more of a tradition than just a hotel choice.<\/p>\n
Which shops do you rely on?<\/p>\n
I love shopping on Bond Street. I always stop by SJ Phillips \u2014 it\u2019s fascinating and full of unique finds. Asprey is another staple for its heritage and craftsmanship. I also love Savile Row \u2014 the tailoring is among the best in the world. Anderson & Sheppard is an all-time favourite of mine for classic, impeccably made menswear.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the best meal you\u2019ve had here?<\/p>\n
Dinner at Harry\u2019s Bar is always exceptional. The atmosphere is elegant, the service is outstanding and the food is consistently excellent. I also love Zuma \u2014 the sushi is incredible. I often go with Dee or a group of close friends in the evening. Loulou\u2019s has an incredible scene and decor. And Scott\u2019s is always a classic \u2014 great food, great ambience.<\/p>\n
Who is the most iconic Londoner?<\/p>\n
The King. He\u2019s a true embodiment of British heritage and tradition.<\/p>\n
Hyde Park \u2014 it\u2019s one of the most beautiful places in the city and a great escape for a long walk.<\/p>\n
Who do you call when you want to have fun? <\/p>\n
Lawrence Stroll, my former business partner and a great friend. We always find something fun to do in the city.<\/p>\n
What do you remember about the capital\u2019s fashion scene in the 1970s?<\/p>\n
The King\u2019s Road and Carnaby Street were at the centre of everything \u2014 mod, hippie, punk. You had Vivienne Westwood<\/a> at World\u2019s End, and all kinds of independent shops that were shaping youth culture. It was an incredibly inspiring time.<\/p>\n The late Dame Vivienne Westwood in 2020 <\/p>\n Dave Benett<\/p>\n What are you up to at the moment for work? <\/p>\n F1: The Movie has just been released, which is incredibly exciting. We created our new APXGP Collection for the film \u2014 it\u2019s a fusion of fashion and motorsport that blends racing design codes with prep style. Damson Idris, our menswear ambassador, is one of the lead actors and is going to be a huge star. <\/p>\n I collect books \u2014 everything from art, music and architecture to fashion, interiors and film. My library is where I go to spark new ideas. <\/p>\n What\u2019s your favourite work of art in the city?<\/p>\n I love visiting Sotheby\u2019s and Christie\u2019s during their contemporary art sales \u2014 the range is always incredible, from Basquiat to Warhol. Over the years, I\u2019ve also seen some truly remarkable Picassos offered by both houses.
