James Marsden is set to reprise his role as Scott Summers\/Cyclops in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday<\/strong><\/a>, a role he said was special to return to. <\/p>\n

What did James Marsden say about returning for Avengers: Doomsday? <\/p>\n

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Marsden was asked if it was \u201cstrange\u201d to step back into the role of Cyclops. Marsden joked that they almost waited until he couldn\u2019t fit back in the suit, but was excited to return to a role that helped further catapult him into stardom. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m getting a little long in the tooth to put on the superhero costume,\u201d said Marsden. \u201cI was excited because you\u2019re a part of something gigantic, and I\u2019ve spent 20 years listening to people say, \u2018When are you coming back? When are you coming back? Are you coming back?\u2019 I\u2019m dead. Well, maybe not. I\u2019m going to have a tough time struggling to get into costume if they waited a couple more years. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s been a blast. It really has. It\u2019s been a nice little homecoming to a role that really put me on the map. It was the first real event project that I was ever a part of, and a very beloved character, this icon from the comics. And so to step back into that role was pretty special.\u201d <\/p>\n

Marsden will be one of several former X-Men stars to return to the world of superheroes with the upcoming Doomsday. Several X-Men characters are also coming back for the upcoming movie, including\u00a0Patrick Stewart\u2018s Charles Xavier,\u00a0Ian McKellen\u2018s Magneto,\u00a0Alan Cumming\u2018s Nightcrawler,\u00a0Rebecca Romijn\u2018s Mystique, and\u00a0Channing Tatum\u2018s Gambit. Marsden will be one of several former X-Men stars to return to the world of superheroes with the upcoming Doomsday. <\/p>\n
