Meghan Markle<\/a> could be set to have another reason to visit the UK if Prince Harry receives an invitation to Peter Phillips’s wedding to Harriet Sperling<\/a>. The royal couple, who have been dating since last year, announced their engagement on August 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A statement issued for Peter and Harriet by Gerard Franklin, read: “Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Peter was previously married to Autumn Kelly, with whom he shares two daughters, Savannah, 14, and Isla Phillips, 13. Harriet is also the mother of a daughter from her previous marriage.<\/p>\n

Although there is not yet a date for the wedding, many members of the Royal Family will likely be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Speaking on whether Harry, 40, could be in attendance, an appearance from the former working royal has been encouraged if he were to be invited<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Culture expert and television presenter Nick Ede recently told the Express: “Prince Harry<\/a> has always been close to Peter Phillips and Harry has been known to attend major royal occasions on his own. I think that it would be a good thing for his popularity if he attended the wedding.<\/p>\n

“…If he doesn\u2019t attend it will look a bit petty and that he is not supporting his cousin on his special day.”<\/p>\n

If Harry were to attend, questions will likely come as to whether Meghan, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, will also be present to celebrate Harriet and Peter’s special day.<\/p>\n

Meghan hasn’t visited the UK since September 2022, with the visit coinciding with the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II and, later, her funeral.<\/p>\n
