{"id":327824,"date":"2025-08-08T12:10:25","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T12:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/327824\/"},"modified":"2025-08-08T12:10:25","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T12:10:25","slug":"released-man-utd-ace-now-training-with-second-tier-club-after-120000-a-week-contract-ended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/327824\/","title":{"rendered":"Released Man Utd ace now training with second-tier club after \u00a3120,000-a-week contract ended"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Manchester United waved goodbye to Victor Lindelof over the summer, but the defender remains without a club.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester United<\/a> allowed a number of players to leave at the end of their contracts this summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/christian-eriksen-reflects-on-special-time-at-man-utd-announces-plans-for-next-chapter-following-exit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christian Eriksen was the headline departure<\/a>, leaving Old Trafford after three years with the club.<\/p>\n<p>The Dane remains without a club as things stand, though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/transfer-news\/wrexham-make-approach-to-sign-christian-eriksen-former-man-utd-star-impressed-by-proposal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham made an ambitious move for Eriksen<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Another Scandinavian departed United as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/uk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Lindelof became a free agent<\/a>, with his contract expiring at the end of last season.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2216073878-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Victor Lindelof training at Manchester United\" class=\"wp-image-273214\" \/>Photo by Manchester United\/Manchester United via Getty Images<strong>Victor Lindelof training with second-tier club<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lindelof joined United in 2017 as Jose Mourinho raided Benfica with a move for the Swede.<\/p>\n<p>Despite failing to live up to expectations, Lindelof still racked up nearly 300 appearances across eight years at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/profiles\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-manchester-uniteds-victor-lindelof\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lindelof earned around \u00a3120,000-a-week at Old Trafford<\/a>, and with Premier League appearances declining in recent years, United let him go.<\/p>\n<p>The new season is about to start, but Lindelof is still a free agent and is searching for his next opportunity in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Lindelof has now decided to train with hometown club Vasteras SK in Sweden, in an attempt to keep fit ahead of a potential move elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Lindelof started his career with Vasteras SK, but he was quickly spotted by Benfica and whisked away for a move to Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old is now linking up with Vasteras SK again, as they chase promotion from the Superettan back to Sweden\u2019s top flight.<\/p>\n<p>Vasteras SK coach Kalle Karlsson has told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aftonbladet.se\/sportbladet\/fotboll\/a\/OoM3db\/victor-nilsson-lindelof-tranar-med-vsk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Aftonbladet<\/a> that Lindelof asked to come and train with the club, but there has been no suggestion of a transfer just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Karlsson added that Lindelof might want to return to Vasteras SK in the future, and suggested that the door will always be open for him to come back home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always fun when he\u2019s there. He asked if he could keep going a little bit, so it wasn\u2019t more than that,\u201d said Karlsson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly the future will tell if he ever wants to play in VSK when he has finished his international career. Then the door will always be open,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victor Lindelof has been linked to a number of clubs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lindelof will surely back himself to land a team with European football on offer, and it hardly seems to be the right time for a move to Sweden\u2019s second tier.<\/p>\n<p>A transfer elsewhere doesn\u2019t appear to be imminent, though, and Lindelof has utilised his hometown club for fitness reasons as he waits on a move.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/transfer-news\/ex-man-utd-star-who-left-old-trafford-under-ruben-amorim-could-face-red-devils-on-pre-season-tour-ready-to-offer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fiorentina have been linked with Lindelof<\/a>, potentially reuniting him with former United stopper David de Gea in Florence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-could-miss-out-on-released-man-utd-defender-as-desperate-rivals-make-approach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Besiktas and Trabzonspor have also eyed Lindelof<\/a>, with former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer potentially interested.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/transfer-news\/champions-league-club-now-aim-to-sign-30m-manchester-united-player-just-days-after-fulham-nightmare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lindelof was also linked with a return to Benfica<\/a> earlier this year, but rumours surrounding a return to Lisbon have slowed down.<\/p>\n<p>Lindelof will surely find himself a new club very soon, and United fans will keep tabs on his progress wherever he ends up \u2013 even if it does end up being Sweden\u2019s second tier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Manchester United waved goodbye to Victor Lindelof over the summer, but the defender remains without a club.
