PUTRAJAYA: The government will launch two initiatives on May 1, including the implementation of the Medicine Price Trans\u00adparency Mechanism, says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (pic).<\/p>\n
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said the draft order which, among others, will require private healthcare facilities to display medi\u00adcine \u00adprices, is under review by the Attorney General\u2019s Chambers.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce approved, it will outline how prices should be displayed,\u201d he told a press conference after attending the anniversary celebration of the ministry\u2019s Enforcement Division here yesterday, Bernama reported.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be a grace period for preparation and advocacy prior to the commencement of enforcement or any compound actions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On the second initiative, Armizan said that Ops Gasak aims to prevent the wrongful use of subsidised cooking gas by unquali\u00adfied industries or its smuggling overseas.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome industries not eligible for the subsidies are obtaining gas through decanting, which involves transferring gas from subsidised cylinders to industrial cylinders.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want these parties to understand that such subsidies are meant to benefit the people and should not be exploited for private gain.\u201d<\/p>\n
