Two people were rushed to hospital this afternoon with ‘potentially serious injuries’ after a three-car crash on the M6 near Birmingham Airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The serious collision happened between J4 and J4A of the northbound carriageway at around 2.28pm.<\/p>\n

Paramedics rushed to the scene and found two people, a man and a woman, who had been travelling in one of the cars.<\/p>\n

They were treated at the scene for potentially serious injuries before being rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

Two lanes were closed on the major motorway for several hours following the collision.<\/p>\n

Drivers were stuck in gridlock traffic following the multi-vehicle crash.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> told BirminghamLive: “We were called to reports of a three-car RTC on the M6 northbound, Coleshill, at 2.28pm and sent an ambulance to the scene.<\/p>\n

“On arrival crews found two patients, a man and woman, the driver and passenger of one car, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying them to hospital.<\/p>\n

“There were no further patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

Providing an update on traffic levels shortly before 5pm, travel website Inrix said: “Long delays and two lanes closed due to accident on M6 northbound after J4.<\/p>\n

“Congestion to Corley Services.<\/p>\n
