Swap crowded pavements for wide woodland paths, organic wine bars for quaint country pubs, pestering pigeons for wild ponies and head to the\u00a0New Forest National Park<\/strong>.\u00a0If you\u2019re catching the train, it takes 90 minutes to get from Waterloo to Brockenhurst and by car it takes roughly two hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Once you get there, look out for\u00a0famous ponies, which have grazed there for thousands of years, plus free-ranging Highland cattle and pigs\u00a0snacking\u00a0on fallen acorns. You\u00a0can easily spend the entire day wandering aimlessly through fairytale-esque forest and heather-covered heaths, but there\u2019s plenty more things to do in the area besides.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Explore the pretty village of Beaulieu, canoe<\/a> down the river, treat yourself to a little massage at The Pig<\/a>,\u00a0pick up a treasure from the collector\u2019s fair at Brockenhurst Village Hall, fuel up on pub grub at the Royal Oak <\/a>in Fritham or\u00a0climb aboard the the Exbury Steam Railway.\u00a0<\/p>\n
