{"id":329221,"date":"2025-08-09T00:34:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T00:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/329221\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T00:34:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T00:34:10","slug":"businesses-urged-to-bypass-free-mbie-employment-mediation-service-due-to-wait-list-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/329221\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses urged to bypass free MBIE employment mediation service due to wait-list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThere has been a sustained demand for employment mediation services, with a 12 percent increase in mediations delivered in 2024\/25 compared to the previous year,\u201d MBIE director Pele Walker said, adding full-day mediations rose by 25 percent over the past three years, which reduced overall mediator availability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cMediators report that the complexity of issues being brought to mediation has increased, contributing to longer sessions and more time needed to reach resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">Urquhart said it was more than an inconvenience for businesses, as the longer it took to resolve an issue the more complicated and costly it became.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<a class=\"ad__link\" data-test-ui=\"ad__link\" href=\"https:\/\/advertising.nzme.co.nz\/\" data-ad-env=\"both\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advertise with NZME.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cHaving to wait more than two months for mediation &#8211; which is meant to be an early intervention service &#8211; is far from ideal in the current economic environment,\u201d Urquhart said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">She said the delay means an increasing number of businesses were turning to independent specialists &#8211; or not dealing with the issue at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThe second option is a lose-lose for both parties,\u201d she said, given current labour market conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zZbQRyor\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cNo one wants to be looking for a new job.
