\n David Ridout, a 75-year-old hospital porter at University Hospital Crosshouse, triumphed at the Hyrox World Championships in Chicago.\n<\/p>\n
\n He won his solo and doubles race, claiming the title of double world champion. David also set a new world record for his age group in the solo race.\n<\/p>\n
\n Hyrox is a tough sports competition that includes running and functional fitness movements.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Crosshouse resident qualified for the world championships earlier this year by winning a regional race.\n<\/p>\n
\n After his big win, David said: “I was absolutely delighted to not only win the two medals, but to break the world record.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I trained very hard for over a year so I could go out and do my best in Chicago.”\n<\/p>\n
\n He hopes his victory will be an inspiration to others to improve their health and wellbeing.\n<\/p>\n
\n He added: “Hopefully by sharing my achievement this may inspire others to look at their options and challenge themselves to improve their health and wellbeing.\n<\/p>\n
\n “If I can do it, anybody can.”\n<\/p>\n
