{"id":329756,"date":"2025-08-09T05:29:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T05:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/329756\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T05:29:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T05:29:17","slug":"homeless-charity-slam-tiktok-food-blogger-for-insensitive-shelter-meal-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/329756\/","title":{"rendered":"Homeless charity slam TikTok food blogger for insensitive shelter meal review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Homeless Project Scotland has criticised Glasgow TikToker Tracy Cahill for treating services for the homeless as &#8220;backdrops for online content&#8221;.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_tiktok2JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Tracy spoke about the clip in a rebuttal video\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Tracy spoke about the TikTok in a rebuttal video(Image: TikTok\/@TracyCahill7)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A homeless charity has slammed a Glasgow food blogger who sparked outrage online after posting an<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" insensitive TikTok Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> insensitive TikTok <\/a>rating a meal at a shelter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Tracy Cahill, who has over 45k followers on the social media site, makes videos <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">reviewing food<\/a> across the city using the slogans &#8220;10\/10 banging&#8221; or &#8220;10\/10 stinking&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But the content creator has now come under fire after she was seen critiquing the food served at a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow homeless shelter.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">now-deleted video<\/a>, Tracy was captured &#8220;laughing and sniggering&#8221; while holding a foil container of food with a plastic fork, saying: \u201cThis is 10\/10 banging here and we are in the homeless place getting scran.\u201d Adding: \u201cI didn\u2019t even have to f***ing pay for it. Here we go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The clip has been condemned as exploitative by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Homeless Project Scotland<\/a>, who run programmes to feed vulnerable people in the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokesperson said: \u201cOur services exist to provide dignity, warmth, and a hot meal to those in genuine need often people who have gone days without food or shelter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;They are not here to be used as backdrops for online content or personal publicity. We find it deeply disappointing when anyone treats the reality of homelessness as entertainment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Every meal served at our shelter is prepared by volunteers and funded entirely by donations from the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;These meals are intended for individuals experiencing real hardship. Using them for self-promotion not only disrespects the people we serve, but undermines the purpose of our work.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_tiktok3JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Tracy has defended her actions\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Tracy has defended her actions(Image: TikTok\/@Tracycahill7)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;We urge members of the public to respect these spaces, the volunteers who keep them running, and most importantly, the dignity of those who rely on them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Homelessness is not a trend, it is a serious crisis that demands compassion, not exploitation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">TikTok users have accused Tracy of taking meals from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">people in need<\/a> and using homelessness as a prop for content.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">One critic, TikToker Chloe Walker, posted a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">scathing video<\/a> in which she said: \u201cShe has walked into a soup kitchen and thought she was funny taking food from people who haven\u2019t had a hot meal in days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;I don\u2019t know how you can take a meal from someone in need.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Another TikToker, Shawbag, also<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> weighed in<\/a>: \u201cYou have gone into a space for vulnerable people that is supposed to be safe. This is food being given to folk with nothing and you are treating like content.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Responding to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/homelessness\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">outrage<\/a> surrounding her post, Tracy defended her actions in a rebuttal TikTok video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In the clip, she claims she donated money to the shelter despite earlier bragging she ate for free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">She said: &#8220;I went with my sister who is homeless and stays in a homeless centre. All because I\u2019m a big TikToker you are criticising me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;I have had to do a lot of homeless stuff. That\u2019s why I started TikTok &#8211; to make a wee bit of money and make a better life for me.
