Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, the Fuji singer popularly known as KWAM 1<\/a> and K1 De Ultimate, has apologised following an incident involving him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The controversy arose on August 5 when the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) disclosed that the 68-year-old musician attempted to board a ValueJet Airlines flight to Lagos with an \u201cunidentified liquid substance\u201d.<\/p>\n

The airport authorities alleged that the singer disregarded warnings from aviation security (AVSEC) and the flight captain.<\/p>\n

FAAN also accused the singer of spilling alcohol<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on aviation personnel when they attempted to verify the content of a flask he wanted to travel with.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, TheCable reported that the Fuji musician\u2019s \u201cdisorderly conduct\u201d<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0led to the\u00a0suspension of two ValueJet pilots.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The singer had previously argued<\/a><\/strong> that the substance was \u201cplain drinking water\u201d given to him at the airport lounge while awaiting boarding and \u201cnot alcohol\u201d.<\/p>\n

But during a press briefing on Friday, the music icon expressed regret over the controversy but clarified that the flask he carried contained \u201conly water\u201d.<\/p>\n

KWAM 1 described the incident as \u201cunfortunate\u201d and that he suffers from chronic dehydration, necessitating constant hydration as advised by his doctor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fuji singer also denied allegations that the flask contained alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cContrary to the negative narrative being circulated in some quarters, the flask contained only water, not alcohol,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, declared<\/a><\/strong> that any airline that does not comply with the no-fly ban on the singer risks its operating licence being withdrawn.<\/p>\n

The order followed after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced that KWAM 1 will be blacklisted for six months<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for his conduct at the Abuja airport.<\/p>\n
