The wife of Dave Edmunds, the acclaimed singer, guitarist and record producer who helped revive \u201950s-style rock \u2018n\u2019 roll and rockabilly through a series of well-received albums and tours, often as a member of the great band Rockpile, provided a positive update on his health issues today (August 8, 2025). The news, from Cici Edmunds, on her Facebook page<\/strong><\/a>, came 11 days after she had shared a rambling and confusing post on July 29 that was initially misconstrued since she stated that her husband \u201chad died in my arms\u201d from cardiac arrest while repeatedly writing that he was dead. At that time, Edmunds, 81, was revived by a nurse who had performed \u201cheavy duty CPR.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the August 8 post, Cici Edmunds noted that her husband had a \u201coperation\/procedure\u201d the day before that \u201cwent really well\u201d that \u201cwill help him in case he\u2026 has another cardiac arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cIt prevents him from being so affected by it and gives him support. A defibrillator and shock wave in case it\u2019s needed. Beyond delighted he got these devices put into him. He is recovering really well, considering what he\u2019s been through. If that works well, they\u2019ll discharge him. I\u2019m beyond words with excitement and gratitude. Thank you everyone for your support and lovely posts. It means the world to myself and to Dave. I\u2019ll show him [your] posts when he is ready. It will help his recovery greatly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edmunds<\/strong><\/a>, from Cardiff, Wales, scored a significant worldwide hit in 1970 as a 26-year-old with \u201cI Hear You Knocking,\u201d which reached #1 in the U.K. and #4 in the U.S. Though he would earn another four Top 10 U.K. singles, Edmunds, who possessed a distinctive, yet powerful singing voice, would never again have another major U.S. hit under his name.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Edmunds\u2019 acclaim has far exceeded his chart performance. Many of his late 1970s and early 1980s output\u2014including Tracks on Wax 4 and Repeat When Necessary<\/strong><\/a>\u2014most of which was released under his own name, was actually a group effort. For years, Edmunds recorded with bass guitarist and vocalist Nick Lowe, guitarist Billy Bremner and drummer Terry Williams. The quartet, which performed as Rockpile, officially recorded only one album under that name.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
