A Bristol man who appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Bodyshockers’ has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after a five-year campaign of abuse and brutal attacks on his girlfriend, a court heard.<\/p>\n
Jack Woodman, 33, attacked Crystal Taffs on three separate occasions, in front of their two children.<\/p>\n
He pulled out a clump of her hair and threatened to burn her with a pair of straighteners, a jury was told during a trial at Bristol Crown Court.<\/p>\n
Crystal bravely faced Woodman in court in February, despite being in the last weeks of pregnancy with her baby daughter, who was born last month.<\/p>\n
Woodman, from Kingswood<\/a>, Bristol, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm and two counts of actual bodily harm. He has been jailed for two-and-a-half years, reports The Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Crystal’s family said: “Woodman has now got what he always craved \u2013 to be famous. This is a victory not only for my step-daughter but for all women who have to suffer domestic violence and control and coercive behaviour.<\/p>\n “Woodman made Crystal\u2019s life a living nightmare until she finally snapped and ran away from him with their two children. All he was ever worried about was himself and his relentless pursuit of being famous.<\/p>\n “Woodman has now got what he always craved \u2013 to be famous. But that fame has come at a massive price. The jury obviously saw through the lies he was telling and didn\u2019t think he was a credible character.”<\/p>\n Woodman owned a pawnshop and had been with his ex-girlfriend for five years. They had two children together before their relationship ended in 2022.<\/p>\n During the five-day trial, prosecuting Caitlin Evans said: “This case is about Jack Woodman beating his partner and mother of his two children, breaking her jaw and pulling her hair out.<\/p>\n “On Father\u2019s Day in 2022, he punched Ms Taffs after she came to pick him up following a night out at a casino in which he had lost a considerable amount of money.”<\/p>\n Crystal, 29, also alleged her ex had previously attacked her at his pawnshop. She claimed in court: “One day I had agreed to cut my brother\u2019s hair, but Jack wouldn\u2019t let me go until I had cleaned all the TVs in the pawnshop. He wasn\u2019t happy with the standard of my cleaning of the TVs and he said I was a lazy b****.<\/p>\n “He was facing me and punched me in the right side of the face which was agony. I said I think you\u2019ve knocked my teeth out, and he said \u2018If you don\u2019t shut up I\u2019ll make sure I knock the other teeth out\u2019. I was very panicky as it just didn\u2019t feel right.”<\/p>\n She said: “He made me stay in the shop and I sent a text to my step mum apologising that I couldn\u2019t cut my brother\u2019s hair today. I didn\u2019t tell anybody what had happened. I was in pain and very anxious and very scared. I didn\u2019t know if anything was broken but I carried on working as normal at Jack\u2019s Cash.<\/p>\n \u201cI went to A&E because I physically couldn\u2019t eat as it was too painful and so went to A&E but it was far too busy and [I] was told that it would be up to five hours. I was conscious that Jack would come home that evening and so I went back to his house.”<\/p>\n She said she went to have x-rays taken the following day and they showed her jaw was broken. She also alleged she had been attacked by him on the weekend of the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee.<\/p>\n “It was a verbal argument but I do remember him pulling my hair which was something he often did,” she said. \u201cHe reached across and just pulled out a clump of my hair and left me with a bald patch.
