England’s first-choice goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton, went on British radio station ‘talkSPORT’ to talk about her team’s recent success at the Women’s Euros. And she told a curious true story that allegedly took place in the penalty shoot-out in the final against Spain.<\/p>\n
Sarina Wiegman’s side didn’t dominate during the final against Spain<\/a>, but they managed to take the game to penalties. Mariona Caldentey put the reigning world champions ahead before Alessia Russo equalised from a fantastic pass by Chloe Kelly in the second half, before the match headed to spot kicks.<\/p>\n All eyes were now on the two goalkeepers, both of whom were ready to take centre stage. Both\u00a0Hampton<\/a> and\u00a0Cata Coll<\/a> excelled with several saves, with the former finding herself on the winning side.<\/p>\n The Barca goalkeeper, in fact, made two spectacular saves to no avail. According to her counterpart, however, she was at a disadvantage because she didn’t have the notes on where the England players would place their shots.<\/p>\n “I threw her bottle at the English fans so she couldn’t have it. She was confused, and I was trying not to laugh,” <\/b>Hampton told talkSPORT<\/b>.<\/p>\n After the clip began to get some traction on social media, Coll offered her own version of events with an emphatic message that began with two laughing ’emojis’:\u00a0“Okay, okay; calm down, calm down.
