Princess Kate Middleton<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s involvement in eldest son Prince George<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s preparation to become king will be \u201cdifferent\u201d than husband Prince William<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe will never have a constitutional role, except as regent in a worst-case scenario, if George becomes king before age 18,\u201d royal historian Marlene Koenig<\/strong> told Us Weekly exclusively. \u201cShe is there to be the loving, supportive mom in everything George does, because he is her son first and foremost.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate, 43, is not naive to her son\u2019s future \u2014 especially as someone married to the future king.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe and William dated for nearly 10 years before their engagement was announced, which allowed her the time and space to learn about her future life as a member of the royal family,\u201d Koenig explained. \u201cIn time, as wife of the heir to the throne and eventually as a Queen consort. She is also the mother of a future king.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe\u2019s just a tween now, but one day, Prince George will become King of England. And preparing the future monarch 11, for the throne is \u201ca hard job\u201d for his dad and mum Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. The couple is \u201cgradually\u201d introducing things into George\u2019s life, royal author Robert Jobson told Us Weekly [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

King Charles III<\/strong> and William, 43, will take the reins when it comes to preparing George with \u201cthe knowledge and practice of their roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

A new royal protocol<\/a> kicked in last month after George turned 12, hinting that the next phase in his preparation for the throne had started.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been widely reported that, because of his age, George will no longer be able to travel in the same aircraft as William on family trips. Charles\u2019 former pilot Graham Laurie confirmed on \u201cA Right Royal Podcast\u201d that the same thing happened between the current monarch and his eldest son once William turned 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had to have a separate aircraft and we could only fly all four together when they were young with the written permission of Her Majesty,\u201d Laurie said, referring to the late Queen Elizabeth II<\/strong>. \u201cWhen William became 12, he would fly normally in a 125 from Northolt and we would fly the 146 out with the other three on.\u201d<\/p>\n

While members of the royal family have not publicly addressed the rule, those in their inner circle have spoken about it.<\/p>\n

This is a new rule for George, but it seems like William and Kate have been preparing their son for the throne in other ways in recent years.<\/p>\n

Koenig explained to Us that George\u2019s involvement in Charles\u2019 2023 coronation<\/a> was a major step for the youngster. (George appeared in the ceremony as one of his grandfather\u2019s train bearers<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
