Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> have long built a life away from royal duties, the palatial drama, and the London fog. But after five years in California, there are now whispers that the Sussexes might just be looking back across the pond for a reason closer to home\u2014their kids\u2019 education. There\u2019s talk that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could eventually trade their American schooling for a more traditional British education. And if that happens, it could mean a big move, or at least a temporary one, back to the UK for the Sussexes.<\/p>\n

According to Grant Harrold, former butler to King Charles, Harry is ‘quite keen’ on the idea of his children getting a taste of the school system he grew up with, blazers, boarding houses, muddy sports fields, and all. \u201cIt\u2019s very likely and it\u2019s completely possible because if they have their younger education in America, I\u2019m sure their father will be quite keen to have a bit of a British education,\u201d Harrold said. \u201cBut then it depends on how the relationship is with the rest of the family when the time comes,\u201d he added, according to Style Caster<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the thought of Archie perfecting himself at Eton, the same school his father and uncle Prince William went to, and Lilibet walking the same school halls as her cousin, Princess Charlotte, might be appealing, it\u2019s all tied to one big unknown, how warm (or cold) things remain between Harry and the rest of the royals, the New York Post<\/a> reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the signs of a thaw have been in the whispers<\/a>, with King Charles and Harry’s respective aides recently meeting in the UK, as per Fox News<\/a>. Harry is reported to have also extended an olive branch by agreeing to share his schedule with the Firm to avoid clashes with major royal events.<\/p>\n

Harrold, who worked with Charles during his time as Prince of Wales, thinks a UK stint hence might not be out of the question, if not for school, then maybe for a classic royal-style gap year. \u201cThe King famously went to Australia, so it is possible that coming to the UK could be part of that for Archie or Lilibet.” For now, Harry and Markle remain firmly planted in California, and with their recent failed bid for publicly funded security<\/a> in the UK, any move involving the kids wouldn\u2019t be taken lightly. But it\u2019s clear Harry hasn\u2019t ruled it out<\/a>. The option of boarding school in the UK, even if just for the teen years, remains on the table, as per the NY Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on the other side of the family tree, William and Kate Middleton are continuing with a very British educational path for their children. Prince George, Charlotte, and Prince Louis are all enrolled at Lambrook School in Berkshire. George, 12, is expected to start at Eton College in September, pending an official announcement from Kensington Palace<\/a>. Charlotte, now 10, is rumored to be eyeing her mom\u2019s old stomping grounds, Marlborough College. Chiming in on the same, Harrold added that the future King and Queen may opt to avoid the university option. \u201cI don\u2019t think it would be these days. We may find that George, Charlotte, and Louis might not all go to university.
