A passenger jet <\/a>from Istanbul declared a mid-air emergency as it came in to land at Edinburgh Airport.<\/a><\/p>\n

Turkish Airlines flight <\/a>TK1345 touched down in the capital just before 4pm on Friday, August 8, after issuing a 7700 code – the universal signal for a general emergency.<\/p>\n

According to flight <\/a>tracking website FlightRadar24, the aircraft <\/a>declared the emergency during its descent into Edinburgh<\/a>, just above Midlothian.<\/p>\n

A Turkish aviation outlet later posted on X: \u201cTHY\u2019s Airbus 321 passenger plane, operating the Istanbul-Edinburgh <\/a>flight <\/a>today, declared an emergency.<\/p>\n

“The pilots of THY flight <\/a>TK1345 set the transponder system to 7700 to indicate the emergency. It is not yet known why the cockpit crew declared an emergency in Scottish airspace.”<\/p>\n

FlightRadar24 data confirmed the plane landed safely in Edinburgh<\/a>.
