Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly has confirmed that the soap will revisit Anthony Fox\u2019s death mystery in upcoming scenes.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Beth\u2019s character Ruby Fox-Miligan killed her abusive father Anthony<\/a>, and she covered up the crime alongside Caleb, John, Aaron, Cain and Chas.<\/p>\n

But speaking exclusively to us at a photoshoot for the Inside Soap Awards 2025<\/a>, Beth explained that Anthony\u2019s death hasn\u2019t quite given her closure to her ordeal.<\/p>\n

“Obviously there\u2019s a relief to the fact he\u2019s gone,” she said. “But it\u2019s thrown up new problems because she\u2019s constantly living in fear that they\u2019re going to be found out about what she did.<\/p>\n

“Ruby is dealing with a lot of guilt and confusion, and far too many people know the truth now.”<\/p>\n

While the murder gang thought they had been rumbled when a body was found in the lake, it turned out to be Nate instead<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That means only the evil John knows where Anthony\u2019s body is \u2013 and Beth reassured us that we haven\u2019t seen the last of this major mystery.<\/p>\n

“That hasn\u2019t been forgotten!” she exclaimed. “I wondered if maybe it\u2019s a bluff, and it\u2019s actually where John said it was originally. We\u2019re going to revisit that in the near future.”<\/p>\n

Beth is nominated for Best Actress in this year\u2019s awards, and she told us that it has been a privilege to bring this harrowing abuse story to the screen. <\/p>\n

“It was an honour to be given the storyline, and it\u2019s a subject I feel really passionate about,” she said. \u201cMy mum worked in child protection, and I used to be an ambassador for Childline and have worked with the NSPCC.<\/p>\n

“I also did lots of research on case studies about people who have been through that situation. The scripts were so well written, we all desperately wanted to tell the story in a way people could relate to.”<\/p>\n

Beth has also got the nod for Best Partnership, alongside Will Ash who plays Ruby\u2019s husband Caleb, and she has an idea about why viewers have connected to this on-screen pairing.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s the fact that they\u2019ve been together since they were 15,” she explained. “One of our producers once said to me that the way she saw their relationship was that it was pure, which I really love – that really helps me when I\u2019m thinking about how we play stuff out.<\/p>\n

“I think also it\u2019s a very fiery relationship, it can be very fun and funny. Because they met when they were so young, they still act like teenagers sometimes \u2013 well, Ruby does, Caleb doesn\u2019t really!”<\/p>\n

When asked why Emmerdale should bring home the award for Best Soap this year, Beth said: “I think there\u2019s been some fantastic storylines [and] acting – I have to say the limo crash was one of the best episodes of a soap I\u2019ve ever seen. We know how much the fans love us, and I want to say we love you back!”<\/p>\n
