HBO talk show host and comedian Bill Maher confronted Phil McGraw, known as the TV personality Dr. Phil, about McGraw’s participation in raids with Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Friday night\u2019s edition of Real Time. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWhy are you going on these ICE raids?\u201d Maher asked. \u201cI don\u2019t understand that.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re a guy who we know for so many years who has been working to put families together,\u201d he added. \u201cTo bring families who are apart and heal them. And now you\u2019re going on raids with people who are literally separating families.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n Dr. Phil, a former clinical psychologist, responded, \u201cWell, now that\u2019s bulls***.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cLook, if you arrest somebody that\u2019s a citizen, that has committed a crime or is DUI\u2019d with a child in the backseat, do you think they don\u2019t separate that family right then, right there?\u201d Dr. Phil asked. \u201cOf course they do!\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n open image in gallery<\/p>\n Dr. Phil, seen here with President Donald Trump, appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night (Getty Images)<\/p>\n \u201cBut that\u2019s not what\u2019s going on,\u201d said Maher. <\/p>\n Dr. Phil is reported to have taken part in ICE raids twice, in Chicago<\/a> in January, and in Los Angeles<\/a> in June, the New York Post noted. <\/a><\/p>\n However, the TV personality has denied being embedded during the ICE raids in Los Angeles, which prompted protests. But Dr. Phil\u2019s camera crews did take part. <\/p>\n \u201cMeritTV news crews were on the ground during the recent ICE operations in LA … In order to not escalate any situation, Dr. Phil McGraw did not join and was not embedded, as he previously was in Chicago,\u201d a spokesperson for McGraw told The Independent in June.<\/a><\/p>\n Before the confrontation began on Friday night, Maher had argued that the deportation raids were \u201canother thing\u201d that President Donald Trump<\/a> is doing while he\u2019s \u201cdoubling down on unpopular.\u201d <\/p>\n Dr. Phil went on to reference Maher\u2019s monologue in which he had criticized ICE agents for wearing masks. Dr. Phil argued that agents are masked because legislators are doxxing them. <\/p>\n He claimed that legislators are \u201cputting their names, their pictures, their addresses of their families on the internet, they\u2019re putting them on telephone poles.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo, of course, they\u2019re wearing masks so they don\u2019t get outed, so people can do violence against their families,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n Dr. Phil argued that he had seen information that justified the raids he had taken part in. <\/p>\n open image in gallery<\/p>\n Dr. Phil argued on Real Time with Bill Maher that he had seen information justifying the ICE raids he had taken part in (Andrew Caballero-Reynolds\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve got a rap sheet, 12, 14 different cases long of child predators that they\u2019re taking off the street,\u201d he said. \u201cThese are the worst first that they\u2019re taking off the streets.
