Brian Norman Sr. says, \u201cThe going rate\u201d<\/strong> promoter Eddie Hearn is offering for Jaron \u2018Boots\u2019 Ennis\u2019 next opponent is \u201c$250,000.\u201d He states that as of last night, Hearn still hadn\u2019t fought anyone for Ennis to fight in October. In other words, Hearn is trying to find someone on the cheap, getting the least expensive opponent possible.<\/p>\n

Hearn\u2019s $250,000 offer for Ennis\u2019s opponent<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m positive he doesn\u2019t have an opponent, because I\u2019ve heard a whole lot of people he\u2019s been looking for, even as of yesterday. So, he doesn\u2019t have an opponent,\u201d said Brian Norman Sr. to MillCity Boxing<\/a> about Eddie Hearn still struggling to find an opponent for Jaron Ennis.<\/p>\n

Hearn was bragging yesterday that he found a \u201chungry fighter\u201d <\/strong>to give Ennis a \u201cgood test\u201d<\/strong> for his debut in October. He wasn\u2019t giving any hints about who the fighter is, other than saying it\u2019s not a name guy. The fact that welterweight Rashidi Ellis was offered the fight first shows the level that Hearn is shopping at for Ennis\u2019 opponent. This is not going to be any kind of real test to prepare Boots for the 154-lb environment. It\u2019s more window dressing to make him look like 24k gold with the hope of turning him into a PPV attraction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe going rate they\u2019re trying to do is $250,000. It\u2019s whoever is going to take $250,000, that\u2019s who he\u2019s going to fight,\u201d said Brian Sr. about \u2018Boots\u2019 Ennis\u2019 next fight. \u201cAs of last night, they\u2019re still looking. I know some names, personally, that they reached out to as close as last night. $250,000 is the going rate, take it or leave it for anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a bargain basement offer if that\u2019s all that Hearn has budged for Ennis\u2019 opponent. It shows you how far away \u2018Boots\u2019 is from the top of the food chain<\/strong>, fighters Hearn has signed with his Matchroom company.<\/p>\n

Ennis\u2019s career not taking off<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to figure out how you\u2019re going to build a career on paying people $250,000 when you\u2019re supposed to be the big dog. That\u2019s going to be interesting that you can\u2019t get one fight that you got to build a career off of that. That\u2019s going to be crazy,\u201d said Norman Sr. about Ennis.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve already seen how Ennis\u2019 career is failing to take off despite him being so heavily hyped and capturing two world titles at 147. Hearn couldn\u2019t negotiate with WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. for a fight late last year. That left Jaron with no other choice but to defend against his then mandatory Karen Chukhadzhian last November.<\/p>\n

He looked terrible against Karen, and it didn\u2019t have to be that way if Hearn had increased the offer to Brian Jr. to the $2.2 million that he was asking for.<\/p>\n
