{"id":332244,"date":"2025-08-10T04:22:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-10T04:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/332244\/"},"modified":"2025-08-10T04:22:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-10T04:22:09","slug":"plans-revealed-for-museum-dedicated-to-the-ss-united-sates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/332244\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans revealed for museum dedicated to the SS United Sates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The iconic red and white funnels of the SS United States\u2014each standing 65 feet tall\u2014will become the centrepiece of a new museum and visitor experience planned by the SS United States Conservancy.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  These funnels will be preserved before the ship is transformed into the world\u2019s largest artificial reef off the coast of Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Susan Gibbs, president of the SS United States Conservancy and granddaughter of the ship\u2019s designer, said: &#8220;We are deeply committed to celebrating the enduring legacy of America\u2019s flagship, and we have assembled an extraordinary team to help us realize our vision.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>&#8220;By incorporating iconic components from the historic ocean liner into an architecturally stunning land-based museum, the SS United States will continue to excite and inspire future generations.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Thinc Design, a leading museum and exhibit design firm, has been engaged to develop the museum concept.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The company is known for its work on the National September 11 Memorial Museum, the Empire State Building Observatory, and other high-profile projects in the USA.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Tom Hennes, founder of Thinc Design, said: &#8220;From the moment we first set foot aboard the SS United States, we felt a passion for helping tell her remarkable story.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;In close collaboration with the Conservancy, we look forward to designing dynamic, interactive exhibits that create an unforgettable experience for all visitors.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyecho.co.uk\/news\/25375491.almost-300-000-missing-edmund-kell-unitarian-church\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Almost \u00a3300,000 &#8216;missing&#8217;
