What trendy wellness gadget is red, vibrating and costs as much as a luxury car?<\/p>\n
Meet the Ammortal Chamber<\/a>, a \u201chuman optimization device\u201d that looks like it was plucked straight from the Tron franchise.\u00a0<\/p>\n Makers of the high-tech pod say it can boost your physical, mental and emotional well-being in as little as 30 minutes \u2014 and it\u2019s already earned fans among biohackers, pro athletes and wellness influencers.<\/p>\n Skeptical? I was too. In fact, I highly doubted it would do much of anything.<\/p>\n The Ammortal Chamber is available in select locations across the US and Canada. Courtesy of Ammortal<\/p>\n The $160,000 Ammortal Chamber hit the scene in 2023 and can now be found in a growing number of spas, clinics, sports facilities and private homes.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Chamber was inspired by a powerful desire to optimize, connect and expand the body and mind, to enable each of us to more easily recognize and fulfill our potential,\u201d Brian Le Gette, CEO and co-founder of Ammortal, told The Post.<\/p>\n The futuristic bed \u2014 which takes design cues from NASA\u2019s zero gravity body positioning research \u2014 combines 10 non-invasive restorative technologies into a single experience.<\/p>\n \u201cEach compounds the effectiveness and benefit of the other, and the combination saves hours of time compared to using them separately,\u201d Le Gette said.<\/p>\n The technologies include therapeutic red and near-infrared light, multi-wave pulsed electric field (PEF) and pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, vibroacoustic sound therapy and molecular hydrogen, along with guided meditation and breathwork.<\/p>\n I tried the Chamber last month when it was parked on Fifth Avenue as part of the Athletech News Innovation Summit.<\/p>\n Ammortal sessions typically last between 25 and 50 minutes. Some people use it completely in the buff.<\/p>\n I laid down and strapped on a pair of goggles \u2014 similar to tanning bed glasses \u2014 to shield my eyes from the light, then hooked a nasal cannula inside my nostrils to deliver molecular hydrogen.<\/p>\n Once in position, a touchscreen prompted me to select a voice to guide me through the experience.<\/p>\n I was coming off an eight-hour workday and nursing a pounding headache. Both my body and brain felt drained after getting little sleep the night before.<\/p>\n So when the voice asked me to set an intention for the session, I kept it simple: to come out feeling better than I went in.<\/p>\n McKenzie Beard tested out the Chamber for herself.<\/p>\n She was surprised by the results.<\/p>\n Whats does it do, exactly? <\/p>\n The device glowed red as the lid slowly lowered to hover just above me. Courtesy of Ammortal<\/p>\n Similarly, studies suggest that PEF and PEMF therapy can aid in pain relief<\/a>, wound healing<\/a> and recovery<\/a>.<\/p>\n Scientists have found that vibroacoustic therapy may provide benefits such as pain management<\/a>, improved sleep<\/a>, mood enhancement and calming of the nervous system.<\/p>\n Inhaling molecular hydrogen also has potential to strengthen the body\u2019s defenses, increase cellular resilience<\/a> and even enhance longevity.<\/p>\n And guided meditation and breathwork are among the oldest wellness tools around.<\/p>\n Before I knew it, my session was over. The tension in my shoulders and neck from hours hunched over a computer had completely vanished.<\/p>\n I no longer felt sluggish. Instead, I was both relaxed and energized, like I could have taken on another full workday. My mood was light, and an overall sense of calm had washed over me.<\/p>\n Stepping out of the trailer onto the busy street, I was stunned to find that my headache had disappeared \u2014 replaced by a clear-headed calm I hadn\u2019t found even with prescription painkillers.<\/p>\n I went in a skeptic \u2014 but now I may have to lobby NewsCorp to pony up the $160,000 get one for the office gym.<\/p>\n A growing roster of professional athletes, including MLB\u2019s Bobby Miller, are embracing the Ammortal Chamber. Getty Images<\/p>\n VIP fans<\/p>\n Bobby Miller, right-handed pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was placed on concussion protocol earlier this year after taking a 106 mph line drive to the forehead during a spring training game.<\/p>\n While he suffered no significant physical damage, Miller said his lingering headache faded after a 15-minute session in the Ammortal Chamber, according to the Orange County Register<\/a>.<\/p>\n Several other professional teams have also purchased the device, including the MLB\u2019s Arizona Diamondbacks and the NFL\u2019s Denver Broncos.<\/p>\n Other famous fans of the Chamber include Shark Tank\u2019s Daymond John and self-described \u201cfather of biohacking,\u201d Dave Asprey.<\/p>\n Internal surveys by Ammortal show that 95% of users experience a deep state of peace and calm after their session. However, it says even once or twice weekly can support emotional health and help take the nervous system out of its \u201cfight or flight\u201d mode.<\/p>\n Le Gette told The Post Ammortal will soon have have more than 100 Chambers in use, mostly in the United States.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t have the cash for a device that costs as much as a down payment?<\/p>\n You can experience the Ammortal Chamber at various sports clubs, spas and wellness centers across the country.<\/p>\n At Padel United Sports Club<\/a> in Cresskill, New Jersey, a 22-minute session costs $36 for members and $60 for non-members. In Santa Monica, the Proper Hotel<\/a> offers 25-minute sessions for $125.
