In early August 2025, claims circulated online alleging that Britain’s Queen Camilla had been expelled from Buckingham Palace after King Charles III discovered her having an extramarital affair and stealing royal jewelry.<\/p>\n
For example, one YouTube video posted<\/a> (archived<\/a>) on Aug. 4, titled “Queen Camilla THROWN OUT of Palace After King Charles Caught Her CHEATING,” gained over 383,000 views and more than 6,200 likes as of this writing.<\/p>\n (Royal Explorer\/YouTube)<\/strong><\/p>\n The video began with an alleged interview of royal biographer Tom Bower<\/a>, stating:<\/p>\n If you look at the coronation footage as the king and queen leave the thrones and head for the exit of Westminster Abbey of the coronation Saturday, you’ll see that everyone bows and curtsies to the king and no one moves a limb or a muscle when Camilla passes and that was because they were angry with Camilla.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Then a 30-minute narration began:<\/p>\n No one saw it coming. Queen Camilla, once crowned beside Charles, has now been locked out of the palace in utter disgrace, caught in a private affair with a former royal aide and tied to the theft of Diana’s heirlooms. Her double betrayal shattered the monarchy from within. King Charles, heartbroken and furious, acted swiftly. The woman he once risked everything for had crossed the line personally and royally.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The narration continued with detailed scenarios including alleged surveillance photographs dated May 2025, claims about missing royal heirlooms including Princess Diana’s jewelry, supposed palace confrontations and technical details about vault access codes and security systems.<\/p>\n Similar claims appeared elsewhere on YouTube (archived<\/a>, archived<\/a>, archived<\/a>) with nearly identical content. Snopes readers also emailed us to ask if the claims were true.<\/p>\n The story was fabricated.<\/p>\n Although the claim video used an actual interview<\/a> between Bower and GBNews host Dan Wootton from May 2023 to begin with, searches of Bing<\/a> (archived<\/a>), DuckDuckGo<\/a> (archived<\/a>) and Google<\/a> produced no results from any news media outlets reporting on a story about Queen Camilla being expelled from the palace for having an affair or stealing jewelry. Prominent news media outlets would have widely reported such developments if they were true.<\/p>\n We have reached out to the Royal communications team about these allegations and will update the story if we receive a response.<\/p>\n Recent joint appearances<\/p>\n Searches of Getty Images showed<\/a> that the king and the queen were visiting the Sandringham Flower Show 2025 together at Sandringham House on July 23, 2025, in King’s Lynn, England. Additionally, according to the royal family’s official website, Queen Camilla’s page remains active<\/a>, listing her current royal duties and patronages. This contradicted claims that she had been expelled from royal appearances.<\/p>\n Current royal living arrangements<\/strong><\/p>\n The couple were not living in Buckingham Palace, as of this writing, due to a 10-year<\/a>, \u00a3369 million<\/a> refurbishment. According to the BBC<\/a> (archived<\/a>), the king and queen split their time between Clarence House in London and Highgrove in Gloucestershire.<\/p>\n Pattern of AI-Generated Content<\/p>\n The YouTube video making these claims contained multiple indicators of fabricated content. In the description section of the video, the creator disclosed that the material included “altered or synthetic content” where “sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.”<\/p>\n This disclaimer acknowledged that the content was fabricated rather than based on real events or interviews.<\/p>\n The narration followed a uniform narrative structure typical of AI-generated storytelling, with seamless transitions between complex fictional scenarios without natural speech patterns.<\/p>\n Additionally, while the video opened with genuine footage from Tom Bower’s 2023 GB News interview about coronation observations, this real content was repurposed and integrated into a fictional narrative about events that allegedly occurred in 2025.<\/p>\n The rumor about the king and the queen also shared elements with another fabricated story Snopes previously debunked, which claimed Tom Cruise walked off “The View”<\/a> after Joy Behar questioned him about Scientology.<\/p>\n Sources:<\/p>\n “Tom Bower.” Simon & Schuster. https:\/\/www.simonandschuster.com\/authors\/Tom-Bower\/31442997<\/a>.
