As creepy as it sounds, soon Londoners will be able to shack up in the former\u00a0Ravenscourt Park Hospital that hasn\u2019t been used for\u00a0nearly\u00a020 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Grade II-listed art deco building, built in 1933, is going to be transformed into hundreds of homes by property developers TT Group.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t worry, this\u00a0one is less haunted, and more of a historical stunner: the then-Royal Masonic Hospital picked up the prestigious RIBA architecture prize when it was opened by\u00a0King George V in the early \u201930s. It finally closed as a hospital in 2006 (then named the\u00a0Ravenscourt Park Hospital), but has since featured in several film and TV productions, including Agatha Christie\u2019s Poirot (1989 and 1991), The Queen (2006) and Back to Black (2024).<\/p>\n<p>The building was on the\u00a0Historic England\u2019s Heritage at Risk register for a while, but now the landmark is going to\u00a0get a brand new lease of life.\u00a0TT Group acquired the 3.87-acre site in 2022, and has now revealed plans to transform the old red brick building into\u00a0140 new homes, a 65-bed care home and\u00a0communal spaces. Former wards, treatment blocks and administrative buildings will become flats \u2013 ranging from studios to family-sized \u2013, communal workspaces, private gardens, and lounge areas, all designed by the same architecture studio behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/why-is-olympias-1-3-billion-redevelopment-proving-so-controversial-041624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympia redevelopment<\/a>, SPPARC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Many of the building\u2019s art deco features will remain, including welded steel semi-circular sun balconies, and two original Greek-inspired statues that\u00a0are found on either side of the main entrance.
