A short chase started after the driver of a VW Passat failed to stop for policeThe Coventry Road in Sheldon outside Aldi.<\/p>\n

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after colliding with a car during a police chase.<\/p>\n

The driver of a VW Passat ignored an order to stop by officers and sped off just before 1.30pm on Sunday (August 10).<\/p>\n

A short pursuit ensued and the Passat collided with another vehicle at the junction of Coventry Road and Barrows Lane.<\/p>\n

The driver, in his 20s, fled on foot but was quickly detained and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.<\/p>\n

No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

The force helicopter and police motorbikes were also scrambled to the incident.<\/p>\n

WMP said: “We’ve arrested a man in Sheldon, Birmingham<\/a>, this afternoon after a collision at just before 1.30pm.<\/p>\n

“A VW Passat had failed to stop for officers a few minutes earlier and following a short pursuit it collided with a car at the junction of Barrows Road and Coventry Road.<\/p>\n

“No one reported any injuries to us and after a short foot chase a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.<\/p>\n

“He remains in custody as enquiries continue.”<\/p>\n
