The demonstration was organised by the campaign group Defend Our Juries and featured widespread support of Palestine Action, a direct action organisation that has been proscribed as a terrorist group by the UK government.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of those arrested were believed to have displayed items in support of the group, and among them was Perrett, the former frontman and guitarist of the London punk band The Only Ones, best known for their classic 1978 single \u2018Another Girl, Another Planet\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s proscription under the Terrorism Act 2000 means membership or public support for the group is classified as a criminal offence and could result in up to 14 years in jail.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DNLO00dNmoe\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Writing on Instagram on Sunday (August 10), Primal Scream said: \u201cVery proud of our dear friend @peterperrett for being one of the 474 people arrested yesterday in Parliament Square demonstrating against the genocide in Gaza and the non violent protest group Palestine Action being proscribed as a \u2018terrorist organisation\u2019 by Keir Starmer\u2019s weak and unimaginative Labour Government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA blind man in a wheelchair and an old lady in her 90\u2019s, doctors, nurses, architects &amp; a lady priest were also amongst those arrested yesterday under this absurd and repressive law,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>Others to have voiced their support for Palestine Action include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/kneecap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kneecap<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/kneecap-glastonbury-2025-rod-stewart-keir-starmer-palestine-glastonbury-2025-3873839\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who showed solidarity with the group during their controversial set at Glastonbury 2025<\/a> that saw them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/kneecap-and-bob-vylans-glastonbury-2025-sets-being-assessed-by-police-3874207\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">briefly investigated by Avon and Somerset Police<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/roger-waters-voices-support-for-palestine-action-and-declares-independence-from-uk-government-while-campaign-against-anti-semitism-prepare-legal-action-3876820\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roger Waters has also publicly supported Palestine Action<\/a>, describing them as a \u201cgreat organisation\u201d that were \u201cnonviolent\u201d and \u201cabsolutely not terrorists in any way\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParliament has been corrupted by agents of a genocidal foreign power,\u201d the former Pink Floyd singer added. \u201cStand up and be counted. It\u2019s now. This is the moment. I am Spartacus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perrett released his third solo album \u2018The Cleansing\u2019 last year, which featured appearances from Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, as well as Johnny Marr,\u00a0Fontaines D.C.\u2019s Carlos O\u2019Connell and Dream Wife\u00a0guitarist Alice Go.<\/p>\n<p>As for Primal Scream, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/choose-love-and-celebrities-including-dua-lipa-and-riz-ahmed-hit-back-at-keir-starmers-response-to-call-to-end-uk-complicity-in-gaza-we-need-action-not-words-3882116\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">they were among those urging Keir Starmer to \u201cend UK complicity\u201d in Gaza in May<\/a>, demanding all UK arms sales to Israel are immediately suspended.
