{"id":334344,"date":"2025-08-10T23:36:38","date_gmt":"2025-08-10T23:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/334344\/"},"modified":"2025-08-10T23:36:38","modified_gmt":"2025-08-10T23:36:38","slug":"bristols-best-and-worst-primary-schools-for-reading-scores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/334344\/","title":{"rendered":"Bristol&#8217;s best and worst primary schools for reading scores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to data from the government<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Ilminster-Avenue-E-Act-Primary-Academy.jpg\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Ilminster Avenue E-Act Primary Academy<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Bristol&#8217;s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/education\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">best and worst primary schools<\/a> for average reading scores have been revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Data from the UK government shows that, out of 137 schools, about a third have an average reading score that is above the England average.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In May, we shared the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bristols-best-worst-secondary-schools-10167416\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">data for Bristol&#8217;s secondary schools<\/a>, with the Government data showing the city currently has five secondary schools being rated as &#8220;well above average&#8221; for its Progress 8 scores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">We then looked at the data for <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bristols-best-worst-primary-schools-10294171\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol&#8217;s primary schools<\/a> and, across the city, 56 per cent of pupils met the expected standard at Key Stage 2 in 2024. This meant they achieved a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assessed them as &#8216;working at the expected standard&#8217; or better in writing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The average reading score across England is 105.
