We will not commit national suicide to get a good op-ed for two minutes. We won\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While there is a debate in Australia around recognizing Palestine, the country has not yet announced a solid intention to do so.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent recognition plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/emmanuel-macron-france-palestine-canada-uk-gaza-israel-hunger-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spearheaded by French President Emmanuel Macron<\/a>, comes amid the Israeli military campaign in Gaza that has killed tens of thousands of people, and ongoing violence and land grabs by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>France and the U.K. would be the first G7 nations to recognize Palestine. The U.S. is critical of the plans, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/frances-recognition-of-palestinian-state-scuttled-gaza-ceasefire-talks-rubio-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying France\u2019s foray into the matter ended ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/13252144-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7013535\"  \/>The international community has become increasingly critical of Netanyahu\u2019s campaign in Gaza. | Manuel Fernando Araujo\/EPA<\/p>\n<p>Referring to the Palestinians, Netanyahu said: \u201cIf they want to live here next to us they have to stop seeking our destruction, and to give them an independent state with all the trimmings is to invite a future war and a certain war.
