The children took part in athletic games, tested their knowledge in a sports quiz, and had the unforgettable opportunity to meet Olympic champion Max Whitlock. The event was designed to inspire confidence, teamwork, and ambition in the young participants.

“Seeing the children light up as they met Max and took part in the games was a powerful reminder of why we do this work,” said Kelsey Dwyer, Events and Partnerships Manager at Colmore BID and lead of the Community Building Working Group. “Our goal is to create opportunities that not only bring joy but also open doors to new possibilities.”

Financial Literacy for the Future

Colmore BID also partnered with Barclays to deliver a maths workshop focused on saving and financial planning. The session gave children a glimpse into how smart money habits can shape their futures, helping them understand the value of budgeting and long-term thinking.

Seasonal Giving That Makes a Difference

During Easter, Colmore BID collected chocolate eggs donated by generous businesses across the district. These were distributed to Ladywood Community Project and First Class Foundation, ensuring that children who might otherwise go without received a sweet treat during the holiday.

In addition, Colmore BID launched a school uniform drive, collecting essential clothing items for local children in need. This initiative helps ease the financial burden on families and ensures every child can start the school year with confidence.

Colmore BID Community Games

The Colmore BID Community Games, a sports day for businesses across the district, has become a highlight of the BID’s calendar. Teams compete in a fun-filled afternoon of activities, with entry fees going directly to charity. This year, funds raised will be split between two causes, including a dedicated project in Ladywood.

Supporting Families in Times of Need

Recognising the growing need for food support, Colmore BID has also organised food donation drives for the Ladywood Community Centre. These collections help provide essential supplies to families facing hardship, especially during school holidays and colder months.

Pedalling for a Cause

In support of Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, earlier this year Colmore BID hosted a 24-hour static bike ride to raise funds for Yellow Tuesday, a national awareness and fundraising campaign. The event saw participants from across the district take turns cycling, demonstrating the power of collective action for a vital cause.

A Call to Action

On this International Day of Charity, Colmore BID invites businesses and individuals to reflect on the impact of giving and to consider how they can contribute to their local community.

“Our work in Ladywood is a testament to what can be achieved when businesses come together with purpose,” said Kelsey. “Whether it’s a donation, a workshop, or a day of fun, every action counts. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Birmingham.”

To learn more about Colmore BID’s community initiatives or to get involved, visit colmorebusinessdistrict.com.

As the world marks the International Day of Charity (5 September 2025), Colmore BID is proud to celebrate its…

[7820
855,748,393,4884,16,15
0":"post-334832","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-birmingham","8":"tag-birmingham","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-england","11":"tag-great-britain","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
