The UAV is fitted with the WASP (Weles Acoustic Sensor Payload) developed by Polish manufacturer Weles Acoustics, a subsidiary of Quantum Systems.<\/p>\n
\u201cAcoustic sensing has arrived above the Ukrainian frontlines. VectorAI is capable of sensing direction\/distance of artillery being fired boosting a flight time of up to 4 hours,\u201d Seibel said.<\/p>\n
According to Militarnyi, the 150-gram sensor can detect artillery fire from up to 15 km away and small arms fire at distances of up to 2.5 km.<\/p>\n
Oleksandr Berezhnyi, head of Quantum Systems\u2019 Ukrainian office, told Militarnyi that the Vector AI uses serial-production components and is undergoing trials at Ukrainian military training grounds and during combat missions, with ongoing software upgrades.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe tests we are conducting with the acoustic sensor aim, among other things, to demonstrate to the military command the additional capabilities of Quantum Systems\u2019 products for potential follow-on orders,\u201d Berezhnyi said.<\/p>\n
The company has also integrated WASP sensors into its Twister UAVs.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of today, the solution has already been integrated with both the Vector and the Twister. In the future, all of the company\u2019s products will support the option of carrying this payload,\u201d Berezhnyi noted.<\/p>\n
The system\u2019s declared detection accuracy is 5 degrees at a range of 5 km\u2014enough for approximate target location.<\/p>\n
Earlier, a ground-based robotic platform used by the National Guard of Ukraine\u2019s 13th Brigade \u201cKhartia\u201d successfully carried<\/a> out a dual mission\u2014delivering supplies to frontline positions and evacuating a wounded soldier over a distance of 34 kilometers.<\/p>\n
