Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate this summer after Levi Colwill\u2019s serious injury, according to reports.<\/p>\n
There have been rumours about Konate\u2019s future for much of the summer with the France international entering the final year of his contract at Anfield.<\/p>\n
Real Madrid have been linked with a potential transfer this summer<\/strong><\/a>, while there are rumours they could wait and sign Konate for free when his contract runs out, in similar fashion to the way they signed Trent Alexander-Arnold earlier this year.<\/p>\n Liverpool<\/strong><\/a> have been linked with the potential additions of Crystal Palace\u2019s Marc Guehi<\/strong><\/a> and Parma\u2019s Giovanni Leoni<\/strong><\/a> as they look to sign a new centre-back regardless of Konate\u2019s future after Jarell Quansah left for Bayer Leverkusen.<\/p>\n And now Spanish website Defensa Central claim that<\/a> Liverpool\u2019s Premier League rivals Chelsea have \u2018made a move to secure\u2019 Konate this summer with an \u2018offer\u2019 of \u20ac50m (\u00a343m).<\/p>\n With the \u2018long-term absence\u2019 of Colwill cited as the main reason for Chelsea making their move after the Blues centre-back suffered a serious knee injury.<\/p>\n READ:\u00a0Mailbox: Was this \u2018arse-kicking Liverpool needed\u2019 to go and get Marc Guehi?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Chelsea entering the race for Konate is an \u2018unexpected complication\u2019 for Real Madrid with the Blues offering the \u2018exact amount\u2019 that Liverpool are \u2018asking for\u2019.<\/p>\n Liverpool \u2018are not keen to strengthen a direct\u00a0Premier League rival with one of their best players\u2019 while Konate is \u2018leaning towards\u2019 a move to Real Madrid if the Spanish side can reach the Reds\u2019 asking price.<\/p>\n The report adds: \u2018Chelsea are still coming to terms with the\u00a0rejection of the \u20ac50 million offer, but the urgency to sign a center-back is high: they could\u00a0increase their offer.\u2019<\/p>\n Journalist David Lynch heard last month that Konate had given his \u201cpriority\u201d to renewing his contract at Anfield, rather than seeking a move away.<\/p>\n MORE LIVERPOOL COVERAGE ON F365\u2026<\/strong> Lynch said on the\u00a0Sports Mole YouTube\u00a0channel at the end of July: \u201cReal Madrid are clearly interested aren\u2019t they \u2013 there is no question about that! But speaking to people close to Konate, I still get the feeling that his priority is to renew with Liverpool and there are talks there, but it is kind of stuck at the moment.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think it has reached the point of no return and the player has definitely decided he wants to go to Real Madrid, I don\u2019t get that feeling at all.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s not to say that it won\u2019t end in that way because that possibility is 100 per cent on the table, but we are still in the moment where there is hope there will be a breakthrough.\u201d<\/p>\n Football Insider journalist Pete O\u2019Rourke admitted that losing Konate for free in the summer is a \u201creal worry\u201d for Liverpool but that he doesn\u2019t expect a transfer to Real Madrid to happen this summer.<\/p>\n O\u2019Rourke told\u00a0Football Insider in July: \u201cI don\u2019t see a move happening this summer. It would have to be a very good offer from Real Madrid to convince Liverpool to sell Konate, even though they don\u2019t want him to run down his contract.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re probably looking at over at least \u00a340million to sell him now.
