{"id":335722,"date":"2025-08-11T12:37:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T12:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/335722\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T12:37:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T12:37:14","slug":"tesla-applies-to-provide-electricity-to-british-households","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/335722\/","title":{"rendered":"Tesla applies to provide electricity to British households"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aug. 11 (UPI) &#8212; Elon Musk&#8217;s Tesla filed an application to supply electricity to homes and businesses in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>First reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2025\/08\/09\/musk-seeks-to-start-selling-power-to-uk-households-months\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by The Daily Telegraph<\/a>, the electric vehicle and energy company&#8217;s request for an electricity supply license has been noted publicly by Britain&#8217;s nonpartisan Office of Gas and Electricity Markets energy regulating agency, or OFGEM.\n<\/p>\n<p>Tesla Energy Ventures Limited<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ofgem.gov.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-07\/Tesla-Energy-Ventures-Limited-AdvertElectricitySupply-signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> is seeking authorization<\/a> to supply electricity to &#8220;any non-domestic and domestic premises&#8221; located within &#8220;Great Britain, the territorial sea adjacent to Great Britain and any Renewable Energy Zone,&#8221; or areas that fall under the U.K.&#8217;s sovereign rights under the Continental Shelf Act of 1964.<\/p>\n<p>The application was formally submitted last month and was signed by Andrew Payne, who runs Tesla&#8217;s European energy operations.\n<\/p>\n<p>Tesla, based in Texas, already has an electric company there that allows its customers to sell excess energy back to the grid.
