Ah, railway station pubs. As Brits battle the country\u2019s often-dire rail network, pubs in (or near) stations are often our saving grace, the thing that keeps us sane amid countless delays, cancellations and strikes.<\/p>\n
London\u2019s major rail hubs pretty much all boast in-station pubs, and plenty of them are delightful places to sink a pint. And we\u2019re not the only ones who think so: the Telegraph<\/a> recently published its list of the top 10 railway pubs in the UK, and you can find two of them here in the capital.\u00a0<\/p>\n Travel journalist Will Hawkes wrote: \u2018Station pubs, which used to be reliably grim (to put it mildly), have improved by leaps and bounds, and many are now destinations in their own right.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018Any and all of these pubs will keep you happily engaged until it\u2019s time to get on board.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n So, which London railway pubs have been crowned the UK\u2019s best to squeeze in a pre-train pint? The two that feature are The<\/strong>\u00a0Parcel Yard <\/strong>and Pelt Trader<\/strong> \u2013 here\u2019s why they\u2019re apparently so good.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Parcel Yard,<\/strong>\u00a0King\u2019s Cross<\/p>\n King\u2019s Cross\u2019s The Parcel Yard<\/a> is a Fullers pub that sits next-door to Harry Potter attraction Platform 9\u00be. Spread over two floors and occupying the station\u2019s former parcels office, The Parcel Yard is, according to Hawkes, \u2018London\u2019s most charismatic station pub\u2019. He goes on to praise the boozer\u2019s \u2018wide variety of spaces in which to drink, all of them delightfully light, airy and calm\u2019. The Parcel Yard came fifth in the Telegraph\u2019s overall list.\u00a0<\/p>\n Pelt Trader,<\/strong>\u00a0Cannon Street\u00a0<\/p>\n In a railway arch under a Cannon Street station, Pelt Trader<\/a> is an independent pub with more than a dozen taps offering a wide range of ales, beers and ciders.
