{"id":335991,"date":"2025-08-11T14:59:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T14:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/335991\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T14:59:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T14:59:12","slug":"record-footfall-at-waverley-as-oasis-fans-flock-to-the-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/335991\/","title":{"rendered":"Record footfall at Waverley as Oasis fans flock to the city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk\/news\/some-might-say-it-was-a-record-breaking-weekend-at-edinburgh-waverley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Official figures<\/a> from Network Rail show that Edinburgh Waverley saw footfall skyrocket to 140,000, surpassing the station\u2019s previous record of 145,000 set on Saturday 14 December 2024 in the midst of last year\u2019s Christmas season.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>Read More:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The beginning of last week saw notable travel disruption as a result of Storm Floris, which resulted in high numbers of cancelled and delayed services on the network.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, what was the first full week of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival saw passenger numbers climb to just shy of 800,000.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In order to handle the surging passenger numbers the station made use of extra staff to allow services to run as planned.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Station manager at Edinburgh Waverley, Chris King, said: \u201cIt\u2019s brilliant to see so many people enjoying what Edinburgh has to offer.
