An investigation is underway following an “unprovoked assault” on a carer at Liverpool Central Station. At around 6.20pm on Saturday, June 28, it was reported that a man who was caring for a man in a wheelchair was punched in the face and threatened by two women.<\/p>\n

Police said the women also became aggressive when they were prevented from trying to push the man in the wheelchair away. The victim, a man in his 50s, sustained bruising to his face and injuries to his arm.<\/p>\n

Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued CCTV images of two women they believe could assist in their investigation.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: \u201cThis was an unprovoked assault which left the victim with bruising to his face and cuts to his arm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe carer was trying to give the dependent man a lovely day out that was sadly spoilt by these women\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth men were left vulnerable by this vicious assault and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which can help with our investigation to please contact us.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am also appealing to the women featured in the image, or anyone who recognises them, to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.\u201d<\/p>\n
