Richard Madeley, the host of Good Morning Britain,<\/a> has reportedly inked “a short-term deal” to continue his stint on the ITV<\/a> breakfast show.<\/p>\n

The 69-year-old first joined the programme in 2021 after Piers Morgan’s exit. MailOnline reports that Madeley has agreed to a “six-month contract set to commence in September.”<\/p>\n

They also suggest this is part of a “temporary arrangement while ITV<\/a> reviews its presenter line-up.” It’s also reported that Susanna Reid<\/a>, the lead presenter, is the only anchor “guaranteed a longer-term deal.”<\/p>\n

This comes amidst news that ITV will undergo a significant reshuffle in January 2026 to save millions, with shows like Lorraine being cut down to just 30 minutes, reports the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An insider told The Sun: “Richard is one of the biggest names on the show, but even he hasn’t been offered a long-term deal. He’s signed for six more months and will then re-consider how the show looks. As things stand, almost every prominent face on the show is in talks.<\/p>\n

“Some are going to go in the reshuffle, so it will depend on who rates well with focus groups and how much money each of them is insisting on.”<\/p>\n

Richard Madeley’s representatives have been approached for comment.<\/p>\n

This follows the announcement earlier this year that Lorraine and Loose Women<\/a> have had their usual time slots slashed in a brutal move from ITV, which takes effect in January 2026.<\/p>\n

Under the revamped daytime lineup, Lorraine will lose its traditional hour-long 9am slot and will be trimmed to a 30-minute programme running from 9.30am to 10am on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks annually.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Loose Women will maintain its one-hour duration from 12.30pm, though it too will operate seasonally for just 30 weeks per year.<\/p>\n

According to MailOnline, Loose Women is poised to axe their live studio audience as part of cost-cutting measures.<\/p>\n

When Express.co.uk sought comment regarding these programme alterations, a source responded: “While there is a proposal to not have a studio audience for Loose Women from 2026, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll never have a studio audience again; it just won’t be in the same way as it is now.<\/p>\n

“At this stage, we are still exploring new ways of working and producing the show when we move to a new studio next year.”<\/p>\n
