Driving for VCARB (now known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/team\/racing-bulls-12\/12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Racing Bulls<\/a>) at the time, the Australian driver was replaced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/liam-lawson\/451769\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liam Lawson<\/a> for the remainder of the 2024 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ricciardo has kept a relatively low profile since his exit, focusing on his other business ventures, including his clothes brand Enchant\u00e9\u00a0and international wine company DR3 Wines.<\/p>\n<p>The eight-time grand prix winner joined interviewer Mel McLaughlin on stage at the conference for a sit-down interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I haven\u2019t been shaving my face. The beard is my comfort right now,&#8221; Ricciardo explained in his typical light-hearted manner. &#8220;This year has been a bit of self-exploration. I lived this crazy high-speed life for so long and this year I\u2019ve sat into a little bit of stillness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve had a lot of time, I\u2019ve done some hiking. I was in Alaska a few weeks ago and didn\u2019t get mauled by a grizzly, which was a bonus. I\u2019ve been trying to figure out who I am other than this race car driver. But team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed during the High Performance podcast that the 36-year-old was not interested in returning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, actually, I think he\u2019s publicly said that he\u2019s not interested in Formula 1,&#8221; Lowdon explained.<\/p>\n<p>He then added: \u201cIf I need to convince someone, then it\u2019s the wrong person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou never need to convince a Formula 1 driver to jump in the car.
