{"id":336566,"date":"2025-08-11T20:06:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T20:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/336566\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T20:06:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T20:06:13","slug":"rail-disruption-set-to-affect-parts-of-wales-and-border-routes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/336566\/","title":{"rendered":"Rail disruption set to affect parts of Wales and border routes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Essential works will take place during two weekends in September<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/2_RD_SWA_230425heartofwales.jpg\" alt=\"Workers on a train line\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Network Rail will be carrying out essential maintenance work, which will affect travel in several parts of Wales(Image: Network Rail)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Network Rail Wales and Borders has announced a series of essential engineering works that will affect parts of Wales and cross-border routes between Hereford, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/newport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Newport<\/a>, and Shrewsbury over two weekends in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The works are scheduled for Saturday, September 6, to Monday, September 8, and will resume the following weekend on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Projects will include track and drainage upgrades at St Julian&#8217;s in Newport and Tram Inn in Hereford, drainage and level crossing maintenance between Cwmbran and Maindee, and earthworks and drainage at Little Stretton between Church Stretton and Craven Arms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Read the biggest stories in Wales first by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=aa0abd38-0db5-4492-99f3-e73baecff682&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">signing up to our daily newsletter here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Points renewal and signalling improvements will be carried out at Panteg and Pontypool alongside vegetation management to improve safety and visibility along the line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">To carry out the work safely several sections of the railway will be closed over the two weekends.
