Faith No More<\/a> drummer Mike Bordin has said frontman Mike Patton<\/a> is \u201cclearly unwilling to do shows with us\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The veteran Bay Area band have been largely inactive for the last decade since the release of their comeback album \u2018Sol Invictus<\/a>\u2019 in 2015, although they were due to play a number of shows in 2020, only for them to be scrapped due to COVID-19<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Further plans for live shows were announced in 2021, but those were subsequently cancelled<\/a>, with Patton citing mental health reasons. He later revealed he had been diagnosed with agoraphobia during the pandemic<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the time since, the singer has been out on the road again with his other band Mr Bungle<\/a>, however, and now in a new interview on the Let There Be Talk<\/a> podcast, founding Faith No More percussionist Bordin has given an unencouraging update on the future of the group.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bordin reflected on having to cancel the 2021 shows, saying it was \u201cvery clear that he was unable at that point to physically do it\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made the decision that, \u2018Look, we\u2019ve gotta support our guy\u2019,\u201d he added (via Blabbermouth<\/a>). \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be a shitstorm cancelling fucking 75 shows, but none of us wants to be the guy that breaks his back and forces him to do something that he\u2019s not in the position to be able to do. It wasn\u2019t even an argument.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

When he saw the Mr Bungle shows go ahead, though, he realised the status of Faith No More may be clear. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy statement on it is that he\u2019s gone from being unable to do the shows to clearly being unwilling to do shows with us,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s heavy. That\u2019s a big difference. That\u2019s a big difference. And we haven\u2019t really had much dialogue on it\u2026 It doesn\u2019t feel great to me. It honestly kind of hurts my feelings a little bit, but that\u2019s personal. That\u2019s a private thing. It\u2019s business. We were never gonna force somebody to do something that they weren\u2019t able to do. And now, as I say, it looks like it\u2019s more really about being\u00a0willing\u00a0to do it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this year,\u00a0guitarist Roddy Bottum also spoke about the future of Faith No More<\/a>, saying they were in a \u201creally weird spot\u201d right now.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to believe me, but there\u2019s nothing [to say],\u201d he added. \u201cRight now we\u2019re in a really weird spot, a really strange spot, and I can\u2019t really tell you what\u2019s going on. I don\u2019t know myself. I get different information from people\u2026 and I\u2019m in the band.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
