{"id":336732,"date":"2025-08-11T21:35:15","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T21:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/336732\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T21:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T21:35:15","slug":"reduced-services-at-belfast-leisure-centres-expected-amid-strike-action-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/336732\/","title":{"rendered":"Reduced services at Belfast leisure centres expected amid strike action \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Reduced services are expected at Belfast leisure centres on Tuesday amid strike action by workers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Trade unions trade unions Unite and Nipsa announced the action last week following a lack of agreement in terms of the current pay offer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), a not-for-profit social enterprise that operates leisure services in partnership with Belfast City Council, said they offered a \u201cfair and positive pay award of 3\u20135%\u201d, which \u201cis in line with inflation and exceeds the recent Local Government pay increase of 3.2%\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a joint statement agreed at the Labour Relations Agency, the two sides said they remain engaged in constructive negotiations.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/death-of-man-linked-to-attack-on-priest-who-was-asked-to-hear-confession-FYEOWDUOMJBMHCFEG7DMAGVF4A\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Stephen Brannigan: Downpatrick murder victim named as priest remains in serious condition after linked attack\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3XEQTVZ6IVASXK3XSE3BC6GAJQ.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/more-than-900-british-military-houses-are-still-in-use-in-the-north-KLAJISTVGBFEFHSHBA576I2OMU\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"More than 900 British military houses are still in use in the north\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IIBS7RSREZJVJGIO7CRFIGFU3U.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cGLL management and the Trade Unions (Nipsa and Unite) remain engaged in constructive negotiations, with ongoing support from the Labour Relations Agency,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cFurther discussions are scheduled for Thursday, 14 August 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">All the Better leisure centres and gyms are to open on Tuesday, however due to a limited staff availability, some services may be temporarily reduced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Normal service is expected to resume on Wednesday August 13.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Reduced services are expected at Belfast leisure centres on Tuesday amid strike action by workers.
