{"id":337029,"date":"2025-08-12T00:06:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T00:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/337029\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T00:06:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T00:06:14","slug":"park-in-west-yorkshire-could-become-70000-capacity-outdoor-venue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/337029\/","title":{"rendered":"Park in West Yorkshire could become 70,000-capacity outdoor venue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Leeds City Council wants to increase the amount of people\u00a0allowed into concerts at the park from the current limit of 19,999.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Roundhay would become one of the UK\u2019s biggest outdoor venues if a licence variation is granted.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The proposal and objections from some people living nearby will be heard by the council\u2019s licensing committee on Monday, August 18.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A report to the meeting said measures would be needed to limit noise disturbances.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It said: \u201cThe park has a history of hosting large events which have generated noise complaints from local residents.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere is the potential for noise disturbance from sound checks, loud music, patrons arriving and departing the site, erection and dismantling activities and generator noise.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Conditions on the licence could include no audible noise in nearby homes after 11pm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  CCTV and searches of people attending events are planned to prevent crime and disorder.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Four objection letters were received\u00a0from people who raised concerns including traffic congestion and litter.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  One said: \u201cDuring existing annual events,\u00a0road closures in the area effectively trap residents in their homes, preventing normal travel and daily activities.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Another said: \u201cThis is a ridiculous increase in this area, where homes are having to manage all the necessary extra traffic, on foot or by road on numerous occasions.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Capacity at the park was last raised temporarily\u00a0in 2019 for Ed Sheeran shows.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In 1982, the Rolling Stones played there and the park has also hosted Genesis, Madonna, Michael Jackson and U2.
