<\/p>\nFletcher Moss Botanical Gardens was alive with the sound of guitars on Sunday, July 20, as the Didsbury Guitar Trail returned for its 16th year.<\/p>\n
With rain forecasted and one of the hotly anticipated Oasis comeback shows taking place in Manchester on the same day, the team really had to Roll With It.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite damp weather on the day, hundreds of music lovers turned out to support this much-loved grassroots event, which raised over \u00a3900 for Music in Hospitals and Care, a charity that brings interactive live music sessions to people who are receiving care or treatment in healthcare settings across the UK.<\/p>\n

Led entirely by volunteers and local musicians, the event featured a vibrant mix of performances from seasoned musicians and passionate amateurs alike, set against the backdrop of one of Manchester\u2019s most beautiful green spaces.<\/p>\n
At the heart of the event is Philip Dylak, a local musician turned organiser who has been involved in every aspect of the event over the years. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s grown into something really special. Every year we get better at doing it and putting on a better show.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a community-friendly event, a very supportive and family oriented day,\u201d Philip explains.<\/p>\n
The trail gives musicians of all skill levels the opportunity to perform in public and encourages audiences to support a charity that is dedicated to bringing the joy of live music to people across the UK who might not otherwise get to experience it. <\/p>\n
Philip adds: \u201cYou hear someone playing a song you like and think, \u2018I like that, I\u2019ll donate money to the charity.\u2019 I don\u2019t know of anybody else doing anything quite like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Councillor for Didsbury West, Debbie Hilal, adds: \u201cThe guitar trial has become a tradition in Didsbury, many people look forward to the event every summer. <\/p>\n
\u201cLocal people have a chance to get together, listen to some wonderful musicians and generally have a fantastic day.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trail is also a reminder of how community-led events can bring people together and make a real difference. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not dependent on the internet. You can leave your phone at home and have an old fashioned day out,\u201d Philip says. <\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially when the world feels like it\u2019s in such a terrible state, our event is an antidote to all that. It shows how good people can be.\u201d<\/p>\n
