Hull City are targeting Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Championship season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s according to journalist Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford on loan this summer, with several clubs chasing his signature.<\/p>\n

According to Nixon<\/a>, Hull<\/a> are among the frontrunners to land Collyer on a temporary deal, with Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> also in the mix.<\/p>\n

The defensive midfielder, who made first-team appearances for United at the end of last season, is likely to find regular minutes hard to come by at Old Trafford this term.<\/p>\n

The young prospect faces stiff competition from Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo in the Red Devils’ midfield.<\/p>\n

Hull<\/a> believe they can offer a more appealing package to both Collyer and United than the Owls<\/a>, giving the player a platform to gain Championship experience while competing in a team aiming higher than last season\u2019s 21st-place finish.<\/p>\n

The signing of striker Oli McBurnie, who chose Hull<\/a> over former club Swansea City<\/a> despite reportedly better terms on offer in Wales, has already demonstrated the club\u2019s ability to compete in the market even under restrictions.<\/p>\n

Hull\u2019s<\/a> recruitment so far has focused on adding experience, with McBurnie joining alongside John Lundstram, but bringing in Collyer would inject youthful energy and defensive stability into midfield.<\/p>\n

While goals remain the Tigers<\/a>‘ biggest question mark after finishing as the Championship\u2019s lowest scorers last season, strengthening the spine is equally vital for Jakirovic\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

For Collyer, who joined United from Brighton in 2022 after rejecting Chelsea and Brentford, a loan spell could be the next step in a career disrupted last season by hamstring trouble.<\/p>\n
